$6 Million Worth of Demolition at ISU

Published by on

The Hamilton/Whitten and Atkin/Colby dormitory halls, as well as the Southside Dining Center, will soon be torn down. The dorms have been closed since summer of 2012 because of the outdated fire sprinkler systems.

The Board of Trustees say that with Cardinal Court filling the gap, there should be enough housing for underclassmen even without these buildings, which are about 50 years old.

The south campus residence halls will be demolished this semester; the work will be completed before the fall semester. Demolition of the Rambo House is also planned.

Demolition costs are estimated at $6 million.
