Demolition at Hanford site marks progress in K-reactor cleanup

Richland Wash. — A recent demolition at the Hanford Site is marking yet another step in completing the cleanup near the now-retired K-reactor.
In a recent Facebook post, the Hanford Site says the West-K annex building was used to transfer highly radioactive sludge away from the Columbia River. As you can see, the building is now demolished.
We’re told the rest of the cleanup near the K-reactor will include draining, grouting, and removing the reactor’s spent fuel basin.
The final part of the project will be putting the reactor building itself into safe storage.
