NC Relief effort collecting donations for demolition, cleanup, too

RUSSELLVILLE — The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency in conjunction with municipalities in the county are accepting donations for relief effort for victims of Hurricane Florence.
“The demolition and clean-up effort is expected to last for weeks and we are trying to do our part in helping to provide essential support to the recovery effort,” said Franklin County EMA Director Jody Hitt.
Hitt said a tractor trailer truck is parked at Walmart in Russellville where donations are being accepted. Items needed to help with demolition and cleanup include hammers (claw, sledge, rip, etc.), shovels (round and square), flat pry bars, crow bars, hand scoops, push brooms and regular brooms, dust pans, garbage bags, rolls of plastic or tarps, disinfectants (wipes, bleach, etc.) dust masks (M-95), safety glasses, all sizes of gloves, shop vacs, all sizes of batteries and flashlights.
“If someone can’t get to Walmart to drop off the donations, they can go to any of the town halls in the county and we will go pick up the donations,” Hill said.
He said water and all nonperishable items are also being accepted.
