Yes, it reminded me of the cyclone type drop hammer. Well the auction was today and i lost interest when it got up over $3k. I did come home with a nice Chevy 3500HD diesel 12' rack truck with lift gate. Should be nice to unload floor saws , compactors or whatever.

Your idea is a good one. The concept is exactly what the Cyclone drop hammer is. Cyclone is now a product of Stanley/Labounty. You can buy them off the shelf for about $ 7,500. I own one and use it quite often. if you can retrofit yours for less than what is costs to purchase... Go for it!

I guess the pics are to small to tell. But it stands upright and hooks to a skidsteer. Has hydraulic pump to lift weight up and i believe it free falls to drive in posts.

I was wondering what you guys thought about me making this hydraulic post pounder into a concrete breaker? It is coming up at a auction this week.
My thoughts were to add another foot or so of length to the weight and stronger steel to take the punishment of dropping on concrete.
I havent seen this in person yet, so i dont know how it works for sure. But it sure looks like it is similar to the models they make to break concrete.
Any thoughts ? doug
