you can get asbestos exposure standing on a street corner, from brake dust ! I am around it and if you know you are in a area with friable asbestos then protect your self with a full face resparator.it is in products still today,... they cant be produce here in the U.S, that I know of ,but most drywall compounds that come out of canada and other countries contain 2 % to 5% asbestos.I tore down a building last week that was built in 2003, all the drywall and floor mastic had asbestos! so go figure!

How is it even possible that 2003 will have asbestos? What country and what kind of building if I can ask. Residential? Now you got me worried. When I will want to buy a house or condo without asbestos now feels like its even impossible to buy one, because even after 2000 can have asbestos and would be weird or maybe not allowed to test it before buying.

I've worked around it daily for 30 years. Many of those years with no respirator. No problems so far. Plus I smoke two packs a day.

I know a lawyer who handles these types of cases, if anyone is interested in pursuing, send a private message and I can put you in touch with people who can help. A meso case can be worth about $5 million according to him. It's a terrible affliction, no doubt, and very sorry for anyone who has that kind of exposure, or any asbestos exposure for that matter.

when taking my asbestos supervisor class I remember Dave at TEI telling me that if you smoke and abate asbestos you are 50% more likely to get lung cancer then the average joe. Meso is extremely rare and very fatal. Only thing you can do to ensure that you "lower" your risk to asbestos diseases and asbestos dust, etc... Is to follow all the safety guidelines and make sure all your employees do. I think everyone alive today has been exposed to asbestos at some point in their lives.

My co-worker had and was diagnosed with lung cancer(mesothelioma) I think that I may have been around it a few years ago. I am a little worried about it, from what I understand in some cases you won't get symptoms for 30 or 40 years. I found a website that is really informative Mesothelioma & Asbestos Cancer - INFORMATION-PRO.COM
