UAB to demolish seven buildings on campus

Seven outdated buildings on UAB’s campus are slated for demolition over the next year. The sites will be cleared and plans for the land will be announced later as separate projects, Jim Bakken, UAB’s assistant vice president of public relations said.
The demolitions received approval from the Birmingham Design Review Committee. They involve:

The Worrell Building and its annex, both at 924 18th St. S.

1200 Building at 1200 6th Ave. S.

The former Jefferson County DHR building at 1301 5th Ave. S.

711 Building at 711 11th St. S.

Dowdy Building at 1109 7th Ave. S.

Cancer Research Center at 550 11th St. S.

Last year, UAB announced plans to close and demolish the UAB Townhouse.
