Demolition of KCI Terminal A could start in mid-October

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – As plans move forward to build a new terminal at Kansas City International Airport, plans are also underway to demolish one of the old ones. Kansas City, Mo. City Manager Troy Schulte tweeted late Friday afternoon that the city and contractors Clark, Weitz and Clarkson are seeking companies to demolish Terminal A. Proposals are due Sept. 14. The process could begin as soon as mid-October.
Terminal A has stood empty since the last flight used the terminal on Jan. 8, 2014.
In addition to the demolition of the terminal, the project would include the demolition of the Terminal A parking garage, the crushing and stockpiling of the concrete rubble caused by the demolition, and the hauling and disposal of non-concrete debris.
