One dead after President Street building demolition

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -One person is dead after what officials are calling an “accident” on Seapoint Boulevard near President Street Extension.

The property owner confirmed to WTOC that a third party contractor has died while demolishing the former Tronox Plant, an old gypsum factory. The Chatham County Coroner says the man died when a large piece of equipment rolled over him.

WTOC has been told that the body was recovered.
