Over the course of his career, Casbon was a member of the National Demolition Association’s (NDA’s) education, safety and government affairs committees. He was also involved with the Foundation of Demolition Management education series by NDA, which recently inducted Casbon into its Hall of Fame.
Casbon was also a subject matter expert for the OSHA Training Institute (OTI) and had trained more than 1,000 compliance officers on field inspection principles. In addition, he was a frequent subject matter expert in Construction & Demolition Recycling for articles related to training and safety.
“Mike’s deep knowledge of safety, construction and environmental remediation was sought after the world over. His passing is a huge loss to NDA and the industry. He was a friend and trusted resource to the board, committees and staff,” NDA Executive Director Jeff Lambert says in a release.
Casbon was remembered at the NDA’s Demolition Rockies March 22-25 in Aurora, Colorado, when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. As part of the association’s tribute, a new safety award was named in Casbon’s honor that will be given to those who show a commitment to safe workplace demolition practices.
Casbon is survived by his wife, four daughters and three grandchildren. ERM has established a GoFundMe page in support of Casbon’s family
