Demolition worker dies after being crushed in building collapse: Cleveland Police

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A worker died Wednesday after part of a building collapsed on him, police said.
Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said the incident happened about 5 p.m. at a vacant industrial building at 2742 Grand Avenue in the city’s Buckeye-Woodhill neighborhood.
A private demolition company was working at the building when the incident happened, Ciaccia said. Ciaccia said it appears part of the building collapsed on the worker. According to Cleveland Police, Priv Demolition Crew was pulling down part of a building when the fatal collapse occurred.
The worker’s identity was not immediately released. No other information was immediately available.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the cause.
