Titanium Demolition Gets a Nearly $1.6 Million Demolition Contract

Titanium Demolition and Remediation Group has been awarded a nearly $1.6 million contract to finally begin the long-planned demolition of two buildings at the W. Averell Harriman State Office Campus in Albany New York.
The office of state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced Titanium will demolish the former Formerly Department of Civil Services Buildings 1 and 1A. the buildings were built in 1958 and 1970.
Building 1 is 167,000 square feet and building 1A is 134,000 square feet. Both consist of three floors and a basement.
It is anticipated that Building 1 will be demolished by March 2014 and Building 1A will be demolished by July 2014.
The state Office of General Services announced in September that the buildings will be demolished, five years after they were initially supposed to be torn down.
The space opened up by tearing down the vacant two buildings will provide a staging area for the renovation of Building 5 to house the state’s new Business Services Center.
The office campus is on 330 acres and has over 3 million square feet of office space. Currently approximately 7,000 state employees work there.
