Vermeer Manufacturing Co. has introduced the TG5000 tub grinder, its latest addition to the line of Vermeer organic debris recycling technology.
The TG5000 uses a CAT six-cylinder Tier 3 diesel engine with two available options: CAT C15 540-hp or a CAT C13 440-hp. An extra large cooling system with a high capacity radiator allows the unit to work longer on demanding jobsites.
The tub opening is 60 inches deep and 12 feet wide. The bottom of the tub flares outward from the tub wall, allowing the hammermill to cut under the vertical wall of the tub, helping to reduce bridging and permitting steady feeding of material. Tub rotation is driven by a low-speed, high-torque hydraulic motor and positive chain drive for greater durability.
The Vermeer Duplex Drum is equipped with eight angled hammers cutting 16 radial paths and provides full-face cutting coverage up against the vertical tub wall. The hammers and cutters are reversible as is the drum itself.
The patented Thrown Object Restraint System (TORS) combines a tub cover and rotor deflector, reducing the quantity and distance of thrown objects.
The optional cab and loader are mounted on a pedestal in front of the engine enclosure, which tilts up for operation and provides approximately 17.5 feet of operator visibility. The cab and loader can rotate 370 degrees with a full reach of 27 feet and has a maximum lift capacity of 3,500 pounds at full reach.
A non-loader machine weighs approximately 45,000 pounds and a machine equipped with a loader feature weighs approximately 63,000 pounds.
