We used to run nothing but Bobcats. Had seven of them from 963's on down. Got rid of all of them. Repairs got too costly and too frequent. We had problems with the axle seals and wheel hubs. We started to trade our Bobcats for Caterpillar Skid Steers. We currently are running 3- 262B models, and 3- 252B models. The cost per hour to run these machines have been alot less. We haven't had any axle problems. These machines also have heavier lift arms than the Bobcats and the demolition grapple that they sell is heavier than the Bobcats. We have been very happy with these machines. We also demo'd the Komatsu skid steers and were dissapointed. The cost in my area for the Cats are about the same as the Bobcats, some of ours we were able to pick up for less. Hope this info helps.
Demobud- This is my second tracked skid steer and they are awesome for dirt work and snow plowing. They are good on soft lawns, mud, steep hills and sand. I still think on demo jobs i will use the rubber tired skid steer . They are a little faster ride better and turn alot better on tar and concrete surfaces. They both have there places and a person should have each type i believe. The tracked skid would be good on demo jobs if you wanted to make a ramp out of demo debris up to a dumpster or second floor of a building , because the tracked skid steer will climb very steep hills without spinning the tracks. I dont believe the Cat or ASV skid steers would be good for demo becuase it has a dozen little rubber wheels and exposed hydraulic hoses right behind the undercarriage on both sides. I would pic a tracked machine that has a row of steel wheels and steel drive sprockets like a dozer undercarriage. doug
I run a John Deere 250II skid steer have used on demo jobs mostly for clean up. I have only good things to say about it. It has great visibility due to the arm configuration. Great lifting power and height. I have done some pretty impressive things with it and would get a nother one with out thinking twice. I have run Bobcat, Cat, Komatsu, Case, Gehl, Thomas, Scattrack and Tackauchi for me John Deere has worked out great.
I think one of the reasons your not getting to many answers is because most demolition contractors I know all run Bobcats. Most are running 763, 863, A300 AWS and the mini 463. I don’t think I have seen too many of them running anything else. Bobcats just seem to be the demo contractor’s choice of machine.
