Atlas Copco Construction Tools introduces its new generation of SB hydraulic breaker attachments, designed to hit harder and faster while improving reliability and ease of installation.
The new breaker line includes the 183-pound SB 102 and the 275-pound SB 152. For use on smaller carriers in the 2,425- to 9,900-pound weight class, each SB breaker is designed with a compact, slim-line shape to enhance operator visibility and allow easier working in confined spaces such as inside buildings or in narrow trenches.
Delivering maximum impact rates up to 2,280 blows per minute, the new SB breakers hit up to 50-percent faster than their predecessors. Both breakers operate at a pressure range of 1,450 to 2,175 psi, with the SB 102 requiring oil flow of 4.2 to 9.2 gallons per minute and the SB 152 requiring 6.6 to 10.6 gallons per minute.
The unique solid body concept of the SB range features a one-piece design that contains all integral parts in the same iron alloy casting for exceptional strength and reliability. The SB breakers are also lighter than competitive models and have fewer parts as they do not need to utilize side bolts and separate components for the front head, cylinder and back head.
The new SB breakers are easier to service than previous models thanks to a replaceable floating bushing and even fewer working parts. Vibrations and noise emissions have been significantly reduced due to a new hammer mechanism with recoil dampening.
For added equipment protection and reliability, the SB breakers feature a built-in pressure relief valve as standard equipment to protect the breaker from exceeding recommended operating pressure. The accumulator has been cast into the main body of the breaker for a more rugged design, and uses a new charge valve, which is now flush with the accumulator cover for optimum protection. These new features eliminate the step of unbolting the accumulator when re-sealing the breaker and the need for constant charging of the accumulator. All SB breakers are covered by a limited three year warranty.
