Finland probably more blasters than any other country in the world. The whole country is basically one big chunk of granite.
Thats true! and up and betveen the granite there is clay... so no need for dozers here
but concrete building implosions are extreme rare here! one reason is that it's rare that any bigger buildings at all becomes demolished, they are always doing extremly costly renovations and trying to figure out something else to do with the buildings...
In any case, finding a guy who knows exacly how to drill, how much explosives to use and how to cover the thing in the right way, is quite hard here around.

the job, we are an explosives contractor who has done a lot of concrete fracturing under simular soundingcircumstances.
I have contacted the "major" finnish explosive demolition contractors, non of them has soo far been very positive for the idea using explosives.
One smaller rock blasting contractor promised to do it, he is an former army pioneer, so he insist to have the experience...
I recently saw a documentary about Controlled Demolition, Inc. i have now doubt that those guys would have a problem doing it, but here in Finland we don't have the same experience.
I think we end up using dropp hammers or hydraulic hammers with a restricted time table, here i can get a sub contractor with a 30 ton machine fitted with a 2,5 ton Rammer hammer for 65

Check out the HB10000 by Atlas Copco. It uses a Krupp design. It produces 12,000 ft. pounds of energy. The drawback is it needs to be mated to a big excavator (80 ton).
Indeco also makes a great hammer. It's model number is the Hp 18,000.For drop hammers, I was working on a project recently and the contractor was using a Fractum 400 and it was making pretty fast work of a meter thick slab. Plus it will fit on almost any machine you currently have.
the problem is that the space around the building is very limited, thats why i have been thinking about a dropp hammer, to get more power out of a smaller carrier!
I really don't think even anyone here in Finland own a HB10000 hammer, even 80 ton carriers are quite rare!
The advantage with the dropp hammer is that it pulverizes the concrete, so picking out rebar is quite simple.
Thanks Nuke for the link!
Hi!
I have been searching for different manufacturers of impact/dropp hammers, there is probabbly quite many, but they are quite hard to find on the net!
these i have found so far:
Surestrike, Inc. - Homepage
Terminator Range | Rocktec
MB-EXS Main Page
the stanley models i found are quite small to fit a 30 ton excavator...
I have a bunker that has about 3 metres (10feet) thick roof and 1,5 meters (5feet) thick walls, and that needs to be demoed...
I have been thinking about dynamite and breaking hammers, but i think a big dropp hammer would do the work for both methods!
