Demopro, good thinking on the bio fluid but it still stains. just have your operators wrap the hoses in plastic if you are in critical areas. also watch them when they drag them around they will mark up the floors and walls. We had one burst on the front U.S. Capitol Stairs it was not a pretty site.

Cutter67 - We haven't had the luxury of the burst hose yet, but i can understand what you mean when 15 gl of hydraulic fluid hits the floor. I thought about it and i took heed to what you said and ended up going with biodegradable hydraulic fluid just in case a hose does pop it won't be such a nightmare.

Zwick designed hydraulic power packs with a 210 bar or 280 bar system pressure for the supply of hydraulic power to servo-hydraulic actuators and testing systems. They are optimized to meet the high standards required by servo-control systems.

The capacity of the water- or air-cooled hydraulic power pack ranges from 5 lpm up to 330 lpm. Zwick can provide you with hydraulic power packs of higher capacities on request. Dip trays, rated to hold the full reservoir capacity, and acoustic enclosures are also available for each hydraulic power pack of our product range.

It really matters what you are looking to do with it. They are expensive to maintain. they are heavy. The tools are not cheap to repair. If a hose breaks it causes a real mess most tools operate between 8gpm to 12gpm and most have 15gal. in the system when you see that much oil on the floor it makes you think was this a good choice and it will happen. We own 17 power packs and I hate everyone. Hy-CYCLE is the furture

Demopro,

Your guys will enjoy the efficiency of the hydraulic hand tools. We use hydraulic tools on a regular basis, but we run them off a PTO on our CB Tracked Haulers so the guys can carry tools, spoils etc. Check out a video here and here

The hydraulic packs we were looking at were about $5,000 dollars so having that capability with everything else the CB Tracked Hauler offers us and our customers was a great added value.

I don't know how to embed the youtube video in the post.

We just purchased a new hydraulic power pack, an Atlas Copco, along with 2 jack hammers and a chipping gun. The guys are excited to take this out for a beating. We had the unit retrofitted with a scrubber attachment to always keep it close and keep it indoors. I'll be posting some pictures of it as soon as we get it on the job.

Since most of my work is over or under the water, I use a lot of hydraulics. They seem to maintain efficiency better than air tools and last last a lot longs. The trade-off is that they are bulkier to move around with the pair of fluid filled hoses and they generally are more expensive than air tools. A friend of mine manufactures power units to your specifications and can answer any of you questions. Check out his sight and contact Steve Pemberton

Do any of you guys use hydraulic power packs to run jack hammers or demo saws? I have been thinking of buying a set up to run hammers and saws to eliminate the electric hammers and gas demo saws when working inside. I feel like it would be a more efficient and safer way to go. Let me know what you guys have experienced. Thanks!
