The biggest high reach in the world belongs to Euro demolition. It has a 3 stage telescopic boom mounted on a modified Cat 5110 mining shovel. It was built by Rousch.

What did this set them back money wise?, I would have to think atleast a million easy with that setup.

We took delivery of our high reach about two years ago. We now own two regular 385's and the 385 high reach. It does not have a telescopic boom which looks like it would be really cool but, we now have two different boom systems for it. Not sure about the lengths but, the shorter boom allows us to run a 6000 Genesis shear which is nice considering the long boom only allows for the mp 20. Nevertheless it was a good purchase. Really sells the clients too from a safety standpoint and I think they just love to watch it work.

And many more still to come.... Companyinfo can be found on my website or contact me if you need info.

Some other need to know things:

UHD is the High Reach trade-mark for the Caterpillar High Reach Demolition line-up, like SLR was used by Hitachi for some time.
SLR stands for Super Long Reach. But these machines are not long reach, it is a high reach.
Long reach is used for digging, High Reach is used for demolition.

Later they've changed it into SLD (super long demolition). But why not call it what it is!!!!
All OEM's call a long reach long reach, a MH is a material handler, etc, etc.
But in demolition everything has to be different! It Makes me angry.

And about the trade-name UHD; Caterpillar also produces a 325D UHD and even a 320D UHD....; Can anyone tell me what is ULTRA high about that?!! It is a High Reach, but it reaches only 15 or 18mtr, that can not be called Ultra High Reach. 50mtr or more okay, but not use this name for this mini High Reach.
It looks and sounds stupid.

In every case It is: HRD
and if UHD it can only be used on Caterpillar machines. Let this be said.

HRD = High Reach Demolition
UHD = Ultra High Demolition (Caterpillar HRD machine)
TUHD = Telescopic Ultra High Demolition http://www.vantunen.org/hrd/coleman7gr.jpg
E-HRD = Extreme High Reach Demolition (non telescopic). http://www.vantunen.org/hrd/ZX1400K-2gr.jpg
Triple Demo = Triple boom demolition machine http://www.vantunen.org/hrd/ZX1000K-Triple2gr.jpg

More info , pictures and all weblinks, can be found at our website http://www.highreachdemolition.com

This was something I wrote here and in some other machine-forums.

All of our big machines have telescoping/tilting cabs. One of them is kind of like a milkshake, but you get used to it. Used to keep the door closed to not be thrown out! In any event, you get a totally different perspective with an elevated cab.

Nice machine. I would like to build up a high reach machine. I dont believe there is one in Maine. I have seen Costellos up here from Mass. a couple of times. Very helpful , with the long reach.

The machine has a tilting cab. But sometimes it's easier to see through the window wen you are not working at full height. But with a elevating cabine is not a succes. When you are working with elevated cabin, you are are 'milkshake:noway:

All that money on a machine and for an extra 20,000 they could have made it easier for the operator with an elevating cab. Try sitting down, leaning forward and looking straight up for 10 hours, it's not fun. Yes, I do realize they have video cameras and monitors in the cab, but it's not like actual visual contact. In addition, the elevated cab provides a great degree of protection for the operator.

The first job is the demolition of a hospital wit a height of 52m. And the had orders for the demolition of more high buildings. So the 385b UHD with 40m is to short and so the investment of a new higher and second UHD demolition machine for the company. The first machine is a big succes for the companie and it
