I dont know why there is not much of a market for used brick here in new jersey .In 25 years i have never salvaged any. Dengler Demolition

Wow, all I remember was every demolition company in NYC would salvage all the bricks as well as the 24 foot usually 3"x10" floor joists, and I'm talking about the 1970s and 1980s even they were doing it, I remember seeing 2-3 of the guys cleaning the mortar off the bricks in the pile on the ground and tossing them up in their dumptruck- saved the cost of disposal and they sold them.

Here in Iowa they tore down a couple of brick buildings and I remember some group came in, gathered up all the bricks, cleaned them and palletized them, they made money, the demo people made a little bit, and they saved a lot in landfill disposal fees for tons and tons of perfectly reusable bricks.

Old post I know, but for others who may read- you bet there's a market for them, I've seen pallet loads of brick for sale even on ebay, offhand I think they were around $1 a brick and the buyer picks up or the pallet of banded brick gets shipped at the buyer's expense.

There are companies who do buy brick, we sell brick from our textile mill projects across the southeast. It can range from 20-25 cents / brick.

I was on a demo job a few years back knocking down some housing projects and there was a comapny out of Pa. who paid like a couple cents a brick. They would come on site with a crew clean, stack palletize, and shrink wrap the brick to be sliced up for a brick veneer. I can't remember their name or anything and my computer crashed since then so....
Also about the same time it was after Hurricaine Katrina
and a lot of the brick got shipped to New Orleans. Oh well it will make good fill or a road base.

There are Co's that crush it and use it as landscaping decoration. Just a suggestion!

That is some very nice older brick! It looks to have weathered well the last 90years. I would love to have some of that but I am sure shipping would be a killer!:)

They are from around 1920s and up to 6m tall.
We will pick down the bricks with rotator grabs and put in some containers. Luckily some others will do the removal of the mortar.
Wolf: we will also salvage some old stones used in the foundation and the roofing stones.

I can post some pics from the projects when started

What type of equipment will you be useing to carefully dismantle this brick stucture?
How old is the building?
And of course how high?

At least they have a value over here in Norway. Im starting on a project monday, where we have to pick down the old bricks carefully for further use later (another contract). The new brick stones is waste. Old brick is better than the moderns.

How old is that brick that you are going to pick off the building in Norway? What kind of building is it? Any other interesting salvage coming out of the demo?

They're over 100 years old and located between Chicago and St. Louis. The entire house is brick exterior and interior walls, fireplace, and limestone block foundation. I haven't seen the house yet, an associate is doing some developing at the site and we are involved in some of the demo.
