In the commercial, low slope roofing market, vinyl is the only material with an established recycling system in place. European roofing manufacturers have been recycling PVC roof membranes at the end of their service life for well over a decade now. Roofcollect

Vinyl is one of the more easily separated constituents from auto fluff so it makes sense to use it for furnacing applications. It burns nice and hot and needs less start energy to reach its full burn.

The clients I am quoting to want to segregate it from their waste streams for potential use as a boiler fuel source. I don't even have all of the information regarding its use since the processes are experimental and proprietary; I only know they want it as an additional cut.
I would imagine there are problems with chlorine emissions that need to be overcome before it moves into the mainstream sort.

I personally have never heard of it. Someone called me the other day about it. I was spending some time last night looking at some info on it.

Yes, I have a couple of quotes out to clients that want vinyl included as part of their end result. It could potentially have positive ramifications for the shredder residue waste streams.

Anybody here ever heard of recycling vinyl before?

I just heard it is becoming the latest thing to recycle.
