PIERCE: PUGET SOUND HOSPITAL DEMOLITION & ABATEMENT BID, PROJECT #16-00074. The work generally consists of the demolition and abatement of three building structures commonly referred to as the North Building, South Building, and Boiler House located at 3580 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma WA. The project is broken into two major phases of work. Base Bid - Phase 1 (Abatement & Demolition to Ground Floor): The first phase of work is the abatement and demolition of all three building structures down to the ground floor. The ground floor will act as a cap and the basement levels are to have all access points secured to prevent unattended access. The majority of the existing parking lots, sidewalks, and hard stand areas are to remain as is, where possible, as defined in the Demolition Extent drawings. The abatement portions of the phase 1 work will include sub-phases to be complete in an orderly process as outlined in the facility remediation specifications. Pierce County had a previous demolition permit for this scope of work with the City of Tacoma that has since expired. Pierce County has re-submitted the previous permit for approval and will provide the general demolition permit to the contractor and pay the fees associated with this permit. Alternate Bid - Phase 2 (Foundation Removal & Site Grading): The second phase is to remove the building basements and foundations and grade the site to provide gently graded slopes as defined in the phase 2 demolition extent drawings provided. This phase 2 work requires a separate foundation removal & grading permit from the City of Tacoma. Pierce County will provide this phase 2 permit to the contractor and pay the fees associated with this permit if this alternate is selected
