Windham Regional Commission: Johnson Dam Removal. The Johnson Dam is a private dam located on a tributary of the Crosby Brook, an impaired stream in the Connecticut River Direct drainage, near Tucker Reed Road in Dummerston. It is on the private property of the Johnson/Lyons residence. The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1) Removal of all parts of the existing concrete dam, as outlined in the final engineering plans and construction sequence provided by Ripple Natural Resources, LLC (dated March 2019). 2) Disposal of all concrete, steel reinforcement, timber, and any other material generated form the dam removal at an off-site location in compliance with all federal, state and local requirements. 3) Install temporary erosion control and demarcation fence flagging to delineate work area. 4) Make a reasonable effort to work outside of flowing water, and to limit the discharge of turbid water. 5) Establish appropriate access to the dam site off Tucker Reed Rd, as needed. This may include a crushed gravel course for stability and to prevent rutting, erosion, and tracking of material offsite. 6) At completion of work, restoration of any construction/site access, staging, and work areas of preconstruction conditions.
