Friends of the Winooski River: Camp Wihakowi Dam Removal. Camp Wihakowi Dam on Bull Run in Northfield will be removed along with accumulated sediment to protect water quality, restore the stream channel, and improve aquatic organism passage. Project construction is anticipated between June 15 and October 15, 2020. Work tasks will generally involve removal of Camp Wihakowi Dam (120 CY of concrete); sediment removal and hauling offsite (~26,000 CY); removal and disposal of a deteriorated in-ground swimming pool; stream channel restoration; site grading; installation of ball and burlap trees; installation of an informal pedestrian bridge; and site restoration.
