URI: DEMOLITION/TANK REMOVAL Project Overview: As detailed in the attached CRMC Maintenance Assent, this project involves the decommissioning of the seawater research tanks east of the MERL Building. While the Assent approves the complete removal of these facilities, this decommissioning will occur in phases. The end product of this first phase, if all options are exercised, will leave the site clear of all structures EXCEPT the two tanks closest to MERL, the supporting piles and decking immediately surrounding those two tanks, and the two outbuildings closest to MERL. 1. Remove the 12 tanks furthest east of the MERL building and all decking and supporting material external (outboard) of those tanks and the chain link fence. 2. Relocate the two cross bracing members connecting bents 6 and 7. Reattach these members to connect bents 3 and 4. Existing hardware can be reused if intact, else contractor shall replace hardware in kind. (See photo below) 3. Completely remove the dock’s supporting piles for the outer 6 pile bents (bent numbers 5-10). 4. Additionally, remove the upper and lower decking, the control room under the lower dock, and all connected members and piping, including the beam for the overhead crane eastward of the fourth pile bent. Only the first four bents and connected dock westward of the fourth bent will remain. 5. Securely attach a pressure-treated wooden railing around all sides of the remaining original deck. This railing system will be terminated at each edge of the two remaining tanks in order to provide access to those tanks. (see Railing Detail below). Bids ddue 06/18
