Renovation of Building 571 - 2nd and 3rd Floors

This project will provide renovations to Building 571, 2nd and 3rd floors, to meet new program requirements and upgrade the facility for continued AAALAC accreditation. The work consists of the construction of the renovation and modernization of the 2nd and 3rd floos of Building 571, totaling approximately 13,000 gross sq. ft., consisting of the following major components: 1. Demolition of existing components as shown on drawings. 2. No change to existing facility layout. 3. Support of equipment to be replaced by others, including the 2nd floor Animal Watering System and the 3rd floor autoclave. 4. A new emergency generator and transfer switch will be provided and installed by others. The new emergency power panels and circuiting are included in this contract. 5. A new Air Handling Unit with HEPA filtration will be provided in the Penthouse to serve the 3rd floor. 6. A new electric fire pump will be installed to support fire protection upgrades throughout the building. 7. The facility will be occupied and operational throughout the renovations, including the 3rd floor laboraories. The renovations will occur in two phases with the second floor occurring first, followed by the 3rd floor. Basis of Contract Award: Based on the evaluation factors (technical approach/past performance history, cost and schedule), SAIC-Frederick/NCI-Frederick intends to select a contractor using a best value approach utilizing lowest price / technically acceptable process.
