[FONT=Verdana]The U.S. Army Contracting Agency at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, has a requirement for renovating a 41,000 square foot, three story barracks, Bldg 4218, located in the Aberdeen Area of Aberdeen Proving Ground. The principle architectural features include: demolition and replacement of windows, doors, ceilings, flooring, handrails, stair treads, bathroom fixtures and partitions, and laundry facilities; selective demolition and replacement of interior wall for new gang bathrooms and laundry rooms; cleaning of louvers; and cleaning and painting of walls. The principle mechanical features (HVAC is 75% of the entire project) includes: demolition and replacement of the existing hot and chilled water heating and air conditioning system to include all steam to hot water converters, pumps, flash tanks, condensate receiver and pumps, condensing unit, evaporator barrel, fan coil units, in tube radiators, piping, and controls; demolition and replacement of exhaust and make up air fans, ductwork, registers, and louvers; dryer vents; replacement of domestic hot water generators, sump pumps, hot and cold water piping, and drain, waste and vent piping. Provide and install a wet pipe sprinkler system throughout the building. The principle electrical features include: demolition and replacement of all power, lighting, cable TV, telephone and public address panels, conduit, wire, receptacles, and switches, demolition of a 300KVA transformer and feed to all removed mechanical equipment, replacement of all lighting throughout the building; new underground electrical service and pad mounted transformer; and replacement of the fire alarm system. This procurement will be a Firm Fixed Price type contract. The NAICS Code is 238220, size standard $12M. The magnitude of construction for this project is between $1M and $5M. Subcontracting FAR clause 52.219-7004 applies. This contracting activity takes subcontracting very seriously. We consider the following goals to be reasonable and achievable: 55% of total subcontracting dollars for small business, 4% for Hub Zone, 13% for SDB, 15% for woman owned, and 3% SDV.
