Durham: Demolition of Selected Buildings at the Public Works Operations Center: The City of Durham Public Works Department is in the process if renovating the Operations Center Campus located at 1100 Martin Luther King Parkway. Two structures on this Campus are to be demolished: 1. Identified as the former water treatment pump house, the building is a cast-in-place concrete building with brick panel accents. The roof is steel and concrete structure. There is a 15’-0” deep concrete sump under the building. The building contains asbestos, lead paint and contaminated flood water. Following abatement of all hazardous material, the building is to be completely demolished, including all plumbing, electrical, mechanical, foundations, sub-surface structures, curbing, and related site work. All material is to be removed from the site and disposed of in accordance with all local, State and Federal laws. Identified as the former asphalt processing building, the structure is constructed of brick and concrete block masonry with metal roof structure. The building contains asbestos and lead paint. Following abatement of all hazardous material, the building is to be completely demolished, including all plumbing, electrical, and mechanical. The concrete retaining wall on two sides of the structure is to remain, along with the concrete floor and containment dike adjacent to the structure
