Bloomington: Abatement Services. The City’s Environmental Health Division oversees the health and well-being of all residents and dwellings within the City. It is the Environmental Health Division’s responsibility to investigate reports of unsanitary living conditions and, when necessary, issue orders to clean up those properties. In some cases, the clean-up or abatement involves picking up refuse, appliances and brush and providing proper disposal, or securing by changing locks and boarding up a building against illegal entry. In a few cases, structures will need to be demolished.
