L’Anse: Camp Baraga - Site Redevelopment. This project consists of the demolition of a former level one prison camp. The demolition activities include removing regulated material from the buildings prior to demolition, loading, transport and disposal of demolition waste at a licensed landfill, disposal of universal waste and ACBM, closing two potable water wells, removing four heating oil underground storage tanks, grubbing the work areas, finish grading and seeding. The buildings are a variety of structure types including block wall/flat roof, Quonset hut, heavy timber, house trailers, and wood sheds. Photos of many are included in an appendix. Three buildings will not be demolished but one of these will be partially dismantled and some repair of its west wall will be needed. One of the three is occupied part-time and has electric power. All work areas will be grubbed two feet below grade, then leveled to match the surrounding grade. No special compaction is required. When borrow is needed to level an area, it will be taken from an onsite source. There is some waste sawdust currently piled on the site. We will have contractor spread it out then mix it into soil (by disking or some other agreed-to method) as the disposal method for the sawdust. Bids due 05/21
