DEMOLITION OF THE EXISTING UNITY HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING This project shall consist of removal and disposal of environmentally sensitive building components such as asbestos, lead paint flakes, and universal solid waste in accordance with State and Federal law. A copy of the environmental assessment has been included with the contact documents and will be provided to all Contractors interested in bidding on this project. Contractors shall either be certified themselves for handling and disposal of the hazardous materials, or they shall hire a company that is certified to supervise the removal and disposal of these materials. Contractor shall also remove and dispose of the remaining building components in accordance with State and Federal law. This includes the demolition, removal and disposal of the foundation. Finally, the Contractor shall fill the excavated hole of the foundation with Type D MDOT specified gravel, which shall be compacted in 2 foot lifts to achieve 95 percent compaction rate.
