Boston: (RFQ) Demolition and New Construction of Engine 42. The Project consists of demolition of the existing fire station and construction of a new fire station located at 1870 Columbus Avenue, Roxbury, MA. The new fire stations will be two stories and a mechanical penthouse. The approximate total gross floor area for all three levels is 23,689 GSF. This is the first new fire station to be constructed in the City of Boston in over thirty years. The building is a steel and concrete structure with exterior walls of masonry and curtain wall. The design of the building has addressed the City’s Red Neutral and Green containment and air quality fire station work zone requirements to better improve the health of firefighters and staff.
