Howey-in-the-Hills: Removal of Sara Maude Mason Preserve 1,300 ft. long (field measure) by 60” (inches) wide with seating areas and observation tower Boardwalk. he Town of Howey-in-the-Hills located at 101 North Palm Avenue is issuing a Request for Proposals for the complete replacement of the Sara Maude Mason Boardwalk and observation tower, which is approximately 1,300 ft. long (field measure) by 60” (inches) wide with seating areas and observation tower. The Boardwalk is located at the Sara Maude Mason Nature Preserve in Howey in the Hills. The work will consist of the removal and disposal of all existing materials, and replacement of the existing wood boardwalk structure, upgrading the existing size using 6”x6” piles, 2”x10” joist, 2”x10” girders. Adding A.D.A. compliant kick plate, 36” handrail height, and graspable rail on slopes and stairs to meet all A.D.A. requirements. The top rail will have 45-degree splices and must be rounded with no splinters.
