The Four Corners Construction Office of the Bureau of Reclamation is scheduling demolition and removal of all structures within the Ridges Basin as part of the final completion contract for the Ridges Basin Dam and Reservoir. Asbestos removal from identified structures must take place prior to demolition. Results of the survey provided in a report dated October 1, 2007 from Plateau Inc. indicate that friable asbestos in quantities exceeding the State trigger level, and requiring removal were found in only one structure - the Bodo Farm House. Within the Bodo Farm House - five asbestos containing building materials were identified as: 1) Multi-colored linoleum, bathtub surround vertical surfaces - approx 50 sq ft. 2) Tan linoleum, bathtub surround horizontal surfaces, approx. 16 sq ft, 3) Gray transite located on the interior walls and ceiling of the foyer and laundry rooms, approx. 1,660 sq ft., 4) White caulk with green paint (window glazing), approx 525 sq ft, and 5) White/gray transite with green paint, exterior siding, approx 1,703 sq. ft. All five ACBMs will be required to be removed as part of this contract by a contractor certified by the State of Colorado under Sec. 8 regulations- subject of the scope of work. Following removal of ACBMs, air quality monitoring of the Bodo Farmhouse will be conducted by an independent air quality monitoring firm, also qualified under the State regulations and then following the air quality monitoring approval, the structure must be revisited by Plateau Inc. for final survey and approval for demolition. Final site visitation and approval shall be included in the scope of work. Contract will require disposal, removal, inspection, approval and reporting- for information and/or statement of work contact: Jere Ellenberger at 505-324-5047.
