Renovation and Addition for School - General Contractor to renovate and build an addition for a property they are turning into a school. The GC will be responsible for all aspects of construction and must be able to meet LSDBE and CBE requirements for a publically funded project. The project consists of the renovation and upgrade of the existing building, razing the ancillary adjacent building and replacing it with a 3 story contemporary addition to house a total approximate of 400-450 students between pre-k and 5th grades into 31 classrooms and all necessary support spaces. The final space will include approximately 40,000 square feet. The construction will begin by March 1 to be completed by August 1, 2011. Demolition: In main 4 story masonry and concrete building demolish and dispose off site walls, floors, ceilings, roof as shown on drawings including electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, fixtures, wiring, conduits, piping, ducts and the like. The northern adjacent 3 story masonry and wood ancillary building is to be demolished including foundation walls and footings and rubble to be disposed off site in preparation of a new addition. On the west side of main building the 1 story storage structure is to be demolished including above grade walls, roof and slab down to asphalt paving. Renovation work: In existing 29,906sf main building reconfigure walls as necessary to accommodate classrooms, bathrooms, reception, administrative and support offices, nurse's station, utility, storage and janitorial rooms, teachers lounge, media center. All doors / frames, windows, hardware, elevator, MEP and fire / life safety systems, equipment, insulation, accessories, millwork, finishes to be new. Addition: New steel framed 10,442sf 3 story building (13ft floor to floor height) with concrete flooring on metal decking including a combination of full height floor to ceiling insulated window system and split face concrete block insulated perimeter walls is connected to the main building with the same structural and window system.
