UCONN: SOUTH CAMPUS COMMONS 5 BROWN HOUSES DEMOLITION Project Description: This project will involve the demolition of five (5) Brown Houses (formerly known as “Faculty Row”): House #27, 417 Whitney Rd., House #29, 3 Gilbert Rd., House #12, 4 Gilbert Rd., House #13, 6 Gilbert Road and, House #28, 5 Gilbert Rd. which are bound by Whitney Road, Whitney Road Extension, Gilbert Road, and a portion of Academic Way. Scope of Work: Work will include but is not limited to the following: - Install site fencing. - Install erosion control fencing and infrastructure per plans. - Abatement and legal disposal of all asbestos and hazardous materials associated with the building and adjacent utilities and soils. Contractor/Subcontractor performing the asbestos abatement shall hold a valid license for asbestos abatement within the State of Connecticut. Contractor shall provide an on‐site Project Supervisor having a minimum of eight (8) hours of supervisor training in hazardous waste site operations in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910. The supervisor must be on site at all times during abatement work. - Disconnect utilities. - Obtain demolition permit from the Town of Mansfield. -Demolish five (5) Historic Brown Houses. - Backfill foundations and basements and restore site conditions.
