WTP Improvements Project. The original surface water treatment plant (SWTP) building (approximately 20 feet by 35 feet) and pressure filters were constructed in 1974 on the western edge of Town. In 1986, the SWTP building was expanded to add depth clarification and Culligan pressure filters to replace the original filters. As of 2010, the plant size is approximately 1,886 square feet. The SWTP project consist of the construction of two (2) skid mounted membrane treatment units, backwash system, and high service pump and tank skid within the existing building footprint, electrical and control modifications, and installation of a new backup generator. The project has been split into two (2) phases to allow for limited interruptions in water production by the Town during construction. The first phase will consist of demolition of one of the clarification units and pressure filter, construction of a high service finished water pump skid and tank, temporary relocation of existing chlorine dioxide unit and piping, relocation and upgrading of electrical and controls, and the construction of new membrane treatment and backwash skid within the eastern portion of the existing building. In addition, a new floor drain pan system will be constructed within the eastern portion of the building. Following installation, testing, and acceptance for partial utilization of the first membrane treatment and backwash skid, high service pump and tank, and chlorine dioxide unit, the second phase of the project will begin. Phase II consists of demolition of the two (2) remaining pressure filters and miscellaneous piping. Construction will consist of facility sump and buried piping below the existing concrete slab and installation of the second membrane treatment skid and air system. In addition, the chlorine dioxide unit will be relocated to its final location. Miscellaneous monitoring equipment will be relocated within the plant. Site piping consists of the construction of approximately 75 linear feet of 6-inch sanitary sewer line, and approximately 70-feet of 1-inch water service piping. Bids shall be on a lump sum basis.
