Pier 5 Historic Crane Demolition and Removal. The crane is a 60-foot tall steel framed trussed tower on a 17-feet by 30-feet wheel base supported by concrete girder beams, pile caps and concrete piles. Due to severe deterioration, corrosion and overall poor physical condition and structural integrity the decision has been made to have the structure removed in its entirety. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The purpose of the Project is for demolition and removal of the entire historic crane structure down to its girder beam supports.
