We are in the process of removing over 2 Million $ of asbestos at TC Williams High School before I knock it down. When I first went there to remove all the loose furniture and debris so the asbestos crews can work, The school had left about 50 looked like brand new Apple desk Tops to be thrown away

I started out with a Dell, then went to a Gateway and now I run Lenovo. Not many people have heard of Lenovo, but it is the manufacturing branch of IBM that was sold off. The biggest problem I have had with my laptops is service when they go down. I use a Verzion air card for my internet on the jobsite and my former laptop, the Gateway, the PCMCIA slot went kaput after 3 months - which rendered my connection to the digital world useless. The only option I had of repairing it was to send it to Gateway and wait 2-3 weeks to get it back - not an option, since I am hooked on technology now:rolleyes:.
Anyway to make a long story short, our IT guys that keep the computers and the server in the office working, sell the Lenovo brand of laptop. They can get me back up and running in less than a day - if it breaks, which has not happened yet. I have 2 of these laptops in the field and they have held up well. I went with the guys that I trust and keep our IT side of the business running. I guess it's just like buying a new piece of equipment - service and parts availability after the sale is a very important factor.
Hi Demobud. The Blackberry "Curve" (#8300) is at AT&T . I would rather have had service at Verizon , but you have to go to where the phone goes and AT&T got this model. It just came out recently.
Its really a time saver. Yesterday i emailed some job info to it from my office in the morning . Later in the day i opened the email. Highlighted the phone # on the email and called it. The printers said they would be there to give me some plans. Then i used it to look up the website of the company the job was for on the plans , so i could get directions. Then i used the gps to find the location. Then when i got there i took a couple of pics of the job. So I used the phone for about six things in a half hour , really a helpfull tool. doug
Not quite a laptop but darn close. I just picked up a Blackberry "Curve" and it is pretty handy. It has GPS, camera w/flash , email, texting, internet, phone, music, appointements, push to talk , etc , etc. Unbelievable what these things can do in such a small package.

At work, I have to use a Toshiba, which is pretty standard for everyone here in my office. I haven't had any problems with it.
But at home, I've been a Mac user for years. My PowerBook is four years old, and I want a new one. Can't justify the expense right now. If I had my preferences, I'd use a Mac for everything.
