I have my own business and if you do not have access to work it is not going to be easy to stay afloat by trying to break customers. The most important thing in our business is the contracts , knowing them understanding the scope of work, next finding and getting the work, lastly knowing how to quickly and safely take the building down. demo is the easy part

I'll chime in next; I was a superintendent for D.H.Griffin (Hi John jr) for about15 years doing conventional and explosives demo for two of those. I hung out my own shingle about five years ago doing construction and demo. I am now building a sales business (along with my construction and demo) servicing the foundry and recycling industries. There is a wealth of knowledge floating around this site, not much coming from my direction.

Hello, I have operated my own excavating and demolition business for 14 years. I cant remember how i found this site , but i enjoy going here and see what methods other contractors use. I like to bid on small or large demo projects . I especially like the complicated or challenging projects , thats what makes me wake up in the morning. I dislike AIA forms, paperwork , and chasing money. doug

I haven't had many posts but I visit the site frequently to see what the other maniacs in our industry are up to.

I am a General Superintendent for D.H. Griffin of Texas. I have been in the business for 22 years started with Cleveland Wrecking out of Philly working for my father who was a Supt. Bounced around worked for Testa back in the late 80's, Olshan in the early 90's. Griffin wrecking out of Charlotte, N.C. office, now in Houston, TX. for the last 11 years.

Not sure how many people will reply. Some seem pretty quite on who and where they work.

But, I will start at least.

I own a couple of companies, a demolition consulting company, where I help small and new demolition companies get set-up and running. I mainly teach them marketing their company, where to find jobs to bid, how to get on select bidders list, etc.

The second one is a "web-media" company that owns this forum and a couple of websites. I also am a partner in another "web-based" company where we have a network of sites and where we create sites for companies.
