I almost think in today's "demo-world" you almost need a minimum of a laptop in your vehicle with internet access.
I know what your saying cm1995, about the digital camera, the one time you don't have it, you'll need it.

We are probably 60-40 paperless with the larger being electronic. I really like having documents in e-format - takes up less space and is easier to retrieve.
Me and my grade forman both have laptops with Verizon wireless cards and they have been a life saver. We now keep plans, employee time cards, all the engineering reports (environmental, civil, geotech) and general business correspondenc in e-form. With the wireless cards, we have really been able to incorporate the field with the office. Not to mention digitial cameras and the ability to document work done and are invaluable when things go bad.:o
I know what you mean, I have been using AutoCAD a lot lately and while it very easy to edit designs, some times I just want to roll out a larger print. Maybe I need to get a bigger monitor; 60" plasma...
I like to have some papers "in" my hands. With drawings, there are times I want the plans in my hands, not on the computer.
It's about 50/50 with me. I try to keep things on the pc until I have to do print outs. I have begun to use more dvdroms for advertising handouts as opposed to paper brochures, but some clients still want a foldout.
