Demo contractors are just as bad. Demo guys are going in with some real low numbers to get work and to keep customers they all ready have. I just bid to a contractor who always calls me but never gives me any work he uses me as a check for the demo contractor that does his work. I don't mind this I hope some day they will try us. So last week i threw out a number on some work he needed done at such a low price I knew I was going to lose money on it and the other Demo contractor matched it. I have turned down 3 jobs in the last two months that I had second look on and said I can't do them at "that number" and these were numbers by what I thought were good demo contractors. Times are bad out there I just hope we will be able to get the numbers back up after all the dust settles.

I bid a small trucking warehouse for 66k ,figured the project would cost 38 to 40k it had some metal on it but not enough to give anything toward the bid. My bid was on the cheap side. The project should go for 75k. I call the general contractor to ask him what he thought of my bid and he told me i was 40 grand high. The job was awarded to an electrical contractor who recently started doing demolition. Dengler Demolition

Are you talking about the TSU bid here in Houston? That was a joke, and I got to agree with you.

So I have always told people how much I love this industry, well it is taking its toll now. I have also always said how I wish they would put more license requirements on our industry. Well I bid a job the other day. 110000sf multi floor building. Nothing to crazy but some work. Well the job went for just over $69,000. What a joke. Not even a dollar a sf. The bad thing is that it went to a custom home builder.

Now for all of the people who gave me craup for posting the long post about how can we except landscapers and graders coming into our market and taking our work and coming onto this forum asking how to bid jobs. Yeah great comments guys.
