It makes sense what you said about this business being a word of mouth business. However, isn't it true that "word of mouth" today also includes online social networking? With blogs and social media, you can start to connect with people in the industry that you might not otherwise have met and build up an online relationship with them so that you can support each other in your work. Would love to know what others think about this?
I agree that blogging can be quite useful but, as you go along you will find out that the wrecking biz. is very much " word of mouth ". As large of a industry as it is. It is also a very small business. People whom work in this business usually want to speak with people directly due to credibility issues. All of us has had the guy that comes out to the job and says that he is a operator or a high burner. We always say that just because he can dig dirt or light the torch does not mean he is a wrecker. Anyway. My two cents.
The responses that are already here about this are dead-on. Blogging allows you to provide regular news updates to your existing customer base without paying to produce newsletters. It also allows you to keep putting your brand name out there.
Additionally, blogging goes a long way towards improving your website's credibility with the search engines. The more relevant content that you have on your blog, the more likely it is that Google is going to rank you high enough for your website to get noticed when people search for you. This is due in part to the fact that incoming links help boost your Google ranking and it's easier to get steady links to a blog than to a general website.
That said, I don't see a lot of people blogging in this particular industry. I think it's good for small businesses but maybe it depends on the industry that you're in?
I think companies can benefit from having a blog.
A couple reasons, a blog can easily be update with the latest news about your company, like new projects, new hires, etc. Unlike a website where you need to have either your computer guy do it or hire someone else to update your site for you.
You can write and publish articles that get pick up by mainstream media without knowing anybody or paying anybody to get your article printed in a industry magazine.
Blogging also gets your company name out there, I could go on and on why it is a good thing.

I work as a blogger for various types of businesses. I have recently started blogging for construction and demolition companies as a way to bring attention to the work that they're doing. I've been trying to find other blogs that are similar to this but I'm not finding very many at all. Do you guys use blogs on your websites? Do you know of any blogs that are specific to this industry? Any leads on this are appreciated!!

Good luck.
