So what do you do under the 50 miles? A flat rate or "eat it"
I figure fifty miles is a reasonable local round trip commute for most people in the construction/demolition industry. If we have to travel more than that it will generally involve an over night stay. I have to draw the line somwhere and that seemed fair. Circumstance do alter cases though, if one guy is carrying a carpool I will pitch in for wear and gas. I'm small enough that I can be flexible.
My son-in-law, the bean counter says 32 cents per mile is all you're allowed. We charge between 50 cents and $1.00 for mobilization. I'm told you depreciate the vehicle on mileage and shouldn't have to "eat it" for any mileage. It would be to your advantage to part with the money for under 50 miles too! It's $16.00!
