[FONT=Verdana]For those who don't know A walkout by heavy equipment operators expanded to more than 1,000 city construction sites Wednesday, indefinitely suspending work on major projects including the rebuilding on the World Trade Center site. [/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana]The association's contract with the International Union of Operating Engineers expired at 12:01 a.m. Saturday. Depending on holiday work schedules, Wednesday was the third day that work was stopped on some projects.[/FONT][FONT=Verdana]
[FONT=Verdana]They estimate more than 1,000 sites were affected, 90 percent of them public projects.[/FONT][/FONT][FONT=Verdana][/FONT]
