Peeps??? 1.) unless you have a high reach that gets up and over the structure its got to be done one of two ways - with a crane and attachment (ball, clam shell, etc) or shoot it.

Older procedures aren't unsafe - its people that don't know what there are doing.

I can't believe peeps still use the ball!!! i gotta agree to using a high reach boom crusher
I guess using the ball has a much greater chance of costing a life rather than destroying a building..too dangerous.

Jack:

if I were you, I'd get OSHA involved prior to the start - my guess they will not allow you to work with a machine that can't get up and over the structure. If you chose to do it without their approval and then they come and site you - your looking at a $10,000 fine. If someone gets hurt if it collaspes on top of the machine then your looking at much more.

OSHA calls for 1.5 of the structure height in boom length - no jibs - 195' would be appropriate.

We can also use a high reach excavator with a concrete crusher attachment and 85' of reach. Again, the top of the structure is 130'. Instead of having to mobilize a crawler crane with 200' of boom why not just use the high reach machine and cut our way up
and causing particualr sections to drop at a time?

Hi,

We are about to take down some concrete silos that are 130' high, 11" thick reinforced concrete walls. We can use a Manitowoc 2900 or 3900. How much boom should I figure? I may only be able to use 150'. I would like more

Thank you for any advice in advance.

Jack
