It's about time. With a forecast of 275 offshore rigs (US controlled waters only) to be removed they needed to revamp the regulations.
There is so much bad data floating around concerning environmental impact that each side can point to published research that supports their point of view.
Thankfully on the last couple of rigs that we felled we were able to convince the client to provide an extra for increased environmental monitoring. It is in their best interest because they operate a lot of platforms around the world. Now we have some good, hard data. It is actual data rather than all the theoretical stuff floating around.
