I think the typical earthmoving equipment dealer is beginning to see the upside of marketing to demo contractors. Over the last fifteen years I have seen more equipment coming from the factory with "demo packaging" heavier window guards, heavier undercarriages, better hydro pumps for attachment operation etc. I am partial to Komatsu for excavators and CAT for tracked loaders and dozers and both of those have demo specific packages you can order and most dealers are familiar with these.
As for C/D recycling, I am biased because I sell GK/Sherbrooke systems, but there are a number of affordable c/d solutions out there. GK/Sherbrooke tend to be a bit more capital intensive, but our machines are built like the proverbial brick s***house. The group I rep for is the south east rep for GK/ Sherbrooke so if you would like any info, pm me and I would be happy to forward you some literature.
If your clients are looking for rentals I would send them to Company Wrench. They have an excellent inventory and are a nationwide rental company.
I hope this helps.

Do you guys have favorite equipment dealers? What makes a dealer the ideal for you? Is it breadth of equipment lines and working with just one dealer -- or do you prefer to work with several dealers who separately focus on fewer lines?

How important are service capabilities and understanding of your market and application(s)?

Do you find that the typical "dirt equipment" dealer (loaders, excavators, etc.) understands demolition? What about attachment dealers?

What types of equipment dealers do you feel best understand the demolition and C&D recycling markets?

The reason for all of my questions: We have several clients who ask us for help in setting up dealer channels, and while I'm familiar with a lot of the aggregate equipment dealers across the country, based on my background, I also understand that demolition and recycling are different animals altogether. I know that a lot of times a traditional crusher sales guy doesn't always understand recycle crushing, for instance.

I'm trying to find dealers nationwide that really understand demolition and recycling, and what equipment best fits different applications.

The most immediate areas I need help with are NV, CA, TX, and the East Coast -- especially NY and PA. But I would be grateful for some general advice, as well.

I appreciate any guidance any of you can give. Thanks!
