Just do what all the other people that are branching off into demolition do, get a dart board.http://www.denglerdemolition.com/
Hi folks,I am happy to have come across this forum. Hope you can help me.
I have been in the asbestos abatement world for 15 years in South Carolina.
I own a small 30+ person hazmat company (lead, asbestos, mold, mercury) and am contemplating making a change over to interior demolition as an added option for clients. We are receiving lots of requests for what I would call 'critical demolition' within hospitals especially (dust partitions, hepa filtration, etc.). Most are small projects consisting of a few patient rooms at a time.
Now we are getting requests to price the gut of a former shopping center. Also, we have been asked recently to price the interior demo of a 13 story building at about 6000 sf per floor (GC providing exterior man lift and trash chutes)
So here's the issue - I can't compete I believe with the existing local demo guys with my asbestos manhour rates and certainly not by using unit rates between the two trades (I.e. Floor tile removal unit rate for asbestos vs non-asbestos).
I am trying to get educated on it and looking for estimating software, books, etc, that some could recommend.
Unfortunately I have to rush the bid on the 100,000 sf Ft shopping center. Mid 80's construction, one big anchor store, 20 smaller retail shops ranging from 1 k to 5 k sqft. I have no idea how long it will take, unit rate in general, waste expected, etc.. Mostly Sheetrock demising walls, laying ceiling, and non asbestos floor tile.... Not much really there. Lots of 'air' so to speak.
Thanks for any advice!
