Good question, I am not sure. It would be nice if they would come back and let us know.

I forgot...if you can't afford a Bobcat for 1 week, I would check my estimate. The dumpster idea is the best also. If you have a free dump that's a savings in itself to justify renting a dump truck.

Badger, get the fire department to do a controlled training burn. This way you can ask them to let it burn a little longer to save dump money! Then you can rent a Bobcat and scrape up the cinders!

I would find a sub-contractor to do it for you..Sit back let them do it and make a little money off the job...You can take the house down by hand that is no problem..If you are contracted to remove any slabs or footers then you will most certainly need some kind of equipment

Here's a potential moneysaver:
Ask friends, relatives, or even people around the neighborhood, if thay want anything out of the house, be it sinks, doors, windows, elec. fixtures, wall studs, trim, etc.
The more things you give away, the less you'll have to haul to the dump.

More ideas, just ideas:

If allowed in your area, you could hold a "demo sale", like a yard sale, to sell off things like wood, bricks, etc.

While you're asking people if thay want anything, also ask if thay want to help you bring down the house.

As for general demo: A Sawzall and an assortment of blades. Keep a pliers handy as you use it, as the blade tends to bent sometimes; the pliers is to unbend it.

Rent one of those big rolloff dumpsters to dump the demo junk in; it may be more worthwhile to do that than to haul the junk yourself in your own vehicle.

:)

That is an undertaking that you have chosen to tae on your self.

When you say you can’t afford heavy equipment, to you mean to rent? Do you have any equipment available to you? Bobcat? Mini excavator?

If you are planning to take it solely down by hand, I would start with the roof first and then work your way down from there. But be very careful, tile roofs can be very slick.

What is your plan for load out? What are you using for your hauling?

Hi. I have a big project and a short time frame. I have a house to take down in a maximum of two weeks. It's a bungalow with attic, just over 70 metres sq. Walls are Ytong and the roof is tiled. I need to do the job by myself and can not afford heavy equipment, but I have two weeks free of other commitments which I can devote solely to the job.

So, what I want to know is how best to go about it. What would be the best way to start, how should I proceed and how far will I be able to get in two weeks?

Look upon it as a challenge for the forum's collective wisdom. I'm counting on you guys - this is really important.

Thanks in advance.
