Are there air conditioners / chillers in the building? If so, the refrigerant must be removed and documented.

Thank you again Chaplin
On this bldg there are asbestos in the lynolluim floor in all 3 floors. the bld is 21000 sq ft per floor it is long and narrow. 422 ft L X 52 ft w.
So there is :
1-the asbestos removal team , ballast from light will have to be removed
2- concrete sawing team because we have to save adjacent com room and cooridor
3- Water and sanitary line will have to be cut & caped below grade
4- electrial cables will have to be cut reconnect
5- Salvaged material inlcude pipes , electrical cable and conduit, door frames and door all steel
6- protecting the com room is tricky that is why we are sawing concrte column
if you can call I would appreciate that ( 256)682-7855 cell
certainly would like to find out more about the crucher and processing where and who have it

Based off the information you gave me and that there are no haz materials like Asbestos, Lead Based Paint Removal or PCBs etc.... I would do that job for $155-185k give or take plus the cost of my bonds and insurance requirements and all salvageable materials become property of demolition contractor upon signing of contract, but I don't have to rent a crusher, or processors and can mobilize pretty quick. You have to figure out whats best for your company and only negative thing on your side a well built federal building that is made of concrete is going to be hell on your 2-300's and if one goes down your going to be in a bind without any backups plus your probably need a large crawler/loader and maybe a skid steer or 2.

There are some companies out there that will come to your site with their crusher and crush the concrete for $6.00-$10.00 a ton and leave you a finished product. Research it.

In Augusta,GA right now I'm getting $140.00 per gross ton for processed plated and strucutural steel and $100.00 a gross ton for tin and shreddable metals. How many Sq/Ft are in this building?

I would suggest possbily buying and or renting a multi processing head and just eat away at the building bites at a time. That building is probably going to be full of rebar I know in Augusta,GA most recyclers won't take Rebar unless its processed into 3' sections or less. The added benefits of a crusher on a building like that is you reduce your cost of hauling if they will let you backfil plus you can sell it as crusher run if the crusher will produce 3" minus or less, but you'll need a processer head to crush the concrete down to at least 20" minus or less before you feed the crusher. Dang 20% bid bond thats crazy! 2 - 300 size machines are plenty big to handle that they make processors that will fit as a 3rd member on that size some. So if there are no fees for dumping this job is bascially labor, fuel, permits and profit. It shouldn't take 6 months to do that job even with 2 machines doing it. You'll probably need a crawler/loader and a hydraulic hammer for sure with all that concrete b/c I'm sure it has at big slab on it and real big footers.

Thank you chaplinandsons
That is alot of thinking. we did visit the site ,it is on base. review my answers below
How much room is available for you to work? There is room on the back side of the bldg. we can start on one end before we get to the adjacent bldg
How much room is between the building being torn down and the building not being torn down? At the end of the bldg it is attached to a corridor and the back side has com room that will have to be saved. In fact it is spec to be cut the column

What kind of specs for dust control are required? we have to protect adjacent bldg from dust
What is the traffic like? No much traffic
What size rebar? Not sure the Dwgs. do not indicate size
What all is salvageable in the building? There are pipes and electrical wiring etc that can be salvaged. Also this 60 model bldg has all steel doors frame and possibly door
Do you own or can you rent a crusher where your at?
No I do no own a crusher , I can investigate renting one
Do you have access to a long reach machine or a machine big enough to handle a 3 story building made of concrete? I have 2 excavator Hitachi class EX300 one is armored with cage etc all around it
What

Whats the time frame on this job is there a penalty if you go over is there a reward if you beat their schedule? Do they require a bid bond, payment bond or a performance bond? What does it cost to dump the debris how many tons are you calculating will be in this building? Any commercial debris like sheet rock, wood, doors, etc..... What type of containers are you going to use 20, 30 and 40 yard and/or dump trailers? There thats just a start at where your head should be at.

Gentlmen ,

I would like your input into the approach of which to demo this 3 story bld.
The bldg is 422X51 3 story of concrte block structure. It is adjacent to another bldg that will have to remain. in fact there a joint corridor between the bldgs. and another smal bld that is attached to the bldg that will have to cut the column and the prtect teh bld.
The celing is made of precast concrete ceiling beams.
what is your recommendation.
Of the the engr have provided a plan for what to save and how to cut and not a demo plan
Would like your input to the cost and the the approach . we are in the bi:)dding stage

Thank you
