First of welcome to the forum!
Most likely you will need some type of license, whether it be a general contractors license or a specialty contractor's license. To get these types of licenses in most states is going to require you get bonded and insured.
If I were you I would pass on this one and get more information on how and what is required. Just remember also some cities and counties require you to get a demolition permit to tear it down, which in some cases may require you to have a Pre-Demolition Survey done to find if there are any hazardous materials located in the building.

I have some one wanting to hire me to tear down a house. I have never done this before. I have a lot of friends that recommend me to other people to do maint repairs and one of my friends has an old peer and beam house that they would like for me to tear down but, my question is do you have to be a licensed contractor to do this and is there anything that I need to check in to.
